Internet Television
Internet television has been considered as the mass entertainment medium of the future. It provides possibilities to interlink large amount of people and it offers interactive entertainment by side of more traditional broadcast content:
• Superior image resolution (detail) for a given bandwidth • Smaller bandwidth for a given image resolution • Compatibility with computers and the Internet • Interactivity • High audio visual quality • Consistency of reception over varying distances
It is presumable that a lot of interactive material will be transformed from the web and the people that are not used to use a computer, can access the interactive content via digital television.

DigiChannel
The audience for interactive TV entertainment is not just the typical game player demographic of 13-30 year old males - it's everyone from preschoolers to pensioners. The content needs to break away from the typical game formats of shoot- and beat 'em ups into genres and forms that can regularly attract world-wide audiences numbering in the tens of millions.
UniversalGaming has started together with MediaConcern B.V. the DigiChannel initiative. This research initiative provides both companies with knowledge regarding future developments of internet television in combination with gaming content. The entire spectrum wheather puzzles for elderly up to multiplayer games for kids is being analyzed. UniversalGaming and MediaConcern strive to have established an internet television portal (Digichannel) at the end of 2006. |
